Good Deeds–Simple Ways To Do Good

Published by lynnie at 6:42 pm under Friends, Health, Philosophy Edit This

Doing good deeds everyday doesn’t have to be hard.  Here are some simple ways to spread joy, be kind, and do good.

Volunteering is one way to do good.  Care for the sick, feed the hungry, fight fires, counsel the discouraged, repair leaky faucets, pick up litter, plant trees, nurture children, or visit the elderly.  1.) Volunteer through an established organization or just 2.) see a need and volunteer your services.  Organizations may get you more recognition, but both are needed.
Make others feel important.  I fail so miserably here, sometimes.  I don’t know why.  I genuinely love people; I’m patient, open-minded, and generally good-natured.  But I am sloppy with my approach.  I don’t always remember names, I definitely don’t remember birthdays, and I am absolutely horrible at keeping in touch.  I am working on these things because they can mean so much.  Store everyone’s birthday information, and use it. Several websites now give you birthday reminders for family and friends–either through membership or through a calender to which you upload the b-days.  3.)  Send out birthday cards.

4.)  Repeat names when you are introduced.  Repeating a name that is told to you helps you retain that name.  Otherwise, it might flit right through your head.  5.)  Make flashcards of people.  This may feel silly, but it pays off in the end, especially if you are meeting a large amount of people at one time.

6.)  Take care of the world.   Recycle, turn off the lights, unplug your life every once in a while, and don’t waste.
